Visas: All foreign nationals except those from other East African countries, Canada, Germany and the USA need a visa to visit Rwanda. A visa will require 60.00 and two passport photos, and will allow you to stay for up to three months. Visas of the double or multiple-entry variety are recommended if visitors wish to visit neighbouring countries. But it is always advisable to organise the visa after you've arrived in East Africa.

15-day visas are also issued in a matter of minutes for 60.00 at the Rwandan border. Visa extensions of up to 90 days are available at the Ministry of the Interior near Kigali within a day or two of applying for around 30.00 a month depending on the length of the extension. Visitors may be asked for proof of yellow fever vaccination.

Health risks: Visitors should take precautions against yellow fever, typhoid, hepatitis, malaria (especially in low-lying regions), cholera and HIV/AIDS
